Courteney Cox is a South Australian born dancer who received her early training throughout Queensland returning to Adelaide in 2012. Courteney began training at Adelaide College of the Arts, graduating in 2014 with a Bachelor of Dance Performance. After graduating became a core member of The Human Arts Movement directed by Tobiah Booth-Remmers, performing in a variety of site specific and indoor works.
In 2016 Courteney was invited to join Sydney Dance Company’s Pre Professional Year. She was exposed to many different choreographers and art makers locally & internationally recognised experiencing new techniques and repertoire of the Company.
Courteney has been involved with the Adelaide Fringe for a number of years debuting her first choreographic work, Subliminal, in 2014 as part of Rip Drag Ruminate in the Fringe Season. She also performed in the opening night parade of the 2015 Fringe Festival choreography by Larissa Mcgowan. In 2015 Courteney was invited to be a part of Cie Artonik’s The Colour of Time performance at the WOMADelaide festival. Courteney returned to the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2017 to perform two works in Dances for a Small Stage, ‘Orange’ choreographed by Lisa Lonero Allen and ‘Different’ by Rachel Kennedy. She is also involved in the development of Ha’Adam by Ruby Dolman throughout 2017 which showed in the Rough Draft series with Australian Dance Theatre and further development with the Leigh Warren Hub’s Artist in Residence program. Courteney is proud to have developed a short solo work which she premiered with RAW:Fixate and she plans to continue developing this work later in the year.
When Courteney isn’t dancing or creating works she enjoys teaching dance to children and adults of all ages. She began teaching in 2011 at her local dance school in Brisbane - Ashfield Ballet School- then taking up teaching in Adelaide at Creative Academy of Creative Arts for 2 years before relocating to Sydney. Now that Courteney is back in Adelaide she is excited to join the teaching team at Stomping Ground Studios.
